Empowering The Pacific

Bridging The Digital Divide With Code Avengers And The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints

In a region where access to digital tools and training can be limited, opportunities to build digital skills can change lives. That’s the vision behind a recent partnership between Code Avengers and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a 10-week pilot program aimed at equipping young adults in the Pacific with practical, future-ready digital skills. As 92% of jobs now require basic digital skills, this program addresses the urgent need for digital education in the Pacific region.

Run across Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, and Kiribati, the program supported over 80 young adults as they explored foundational programming, web development, and digital literacy through the Code Avengers platform. The first class launched on June 26, 2024, with learners meeting twice a week for two hours in local church meetinghouses, guided by trained facilitators and supported by structured, curriculum-aligned lessons designed to build confidence and curiosity.

More than just a course, this initiative provided access to opportunities often out of reach — and helped spark the next steps in learners’ digital journeys.

“We have had an awesome time with Code Avengers. The students have had fun learning together and solving problems amongst themselves. I’ve seen their confidence grow each week, and they’re now working on tasks I would have thought impossible at the beginning of the program.” Vincent Titifanua

This initiative is part of Code Avengers’ ongoing commitment to expanding access to digital education, coding for beginners, and tech career pathways in underrepresented regions. Together, Code Avengers and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are helping bridge the digital divide across the Pacific — one learner, one skill, and one milestone at a time.
