Empower Your Teaching with Ready to Use Lesson Plans

Written by Natalie Li | Apr 16, 2026 6:00:00 PM

Teaching digital technologies, computer science and computing is incredibly rewarding. The time challenge is not just planning, it is building the resources that make lessons run smoothly.

Code Avengers EDU includes ready-to-use unit and lesson plans, supported by teaching resources such as slides, unplugged activities, and interactive learning tasks. Everything is designed to support clear structure, consistent learning outcomes, and curriculum alignment.

Whether you are building a full digital technologies programme or teaching a single unit, these plans are designed to help you get the most out of Code Avengers. They provide a clear teaching sequence, variety beyond screen-based learning, and the extra structure that turns online lessons into a complete classroom programme.

What’s Included in the Lesson Plan Library?

The library is organised into unit plans. Most unit plans are built around one or more Code Avengers courses. They are our recommended way to teach those courses in a classroom setting, with offline learning, discussion, projects, and supporting resources to extend and deepen what students learn online. This approach helps students apply their skills through discussion, unplugged learning, and project-based tasks, not just screen-based lessons.

Across the lesson plan library, you’ll find unit plans, lesson plans, and the teaching resources that support them, including:

1) Unit Plans (the full teaching sequence)

Unit plans provide the big picture. They outline what students will learn, how the learning progresses, and which Code Avengers courses are used within the unit (where applicable). They also include curriculum links and learning outcomes so you can align teaching and report on progress.

They are especially useful when you:

  • want a clear term plan or module sequence

  • need consistency across multiple classes or teachers

  • are planning at the start of the school year

  • are building a long term digital programme at your school

2) Lesson Plans (step-by-step delivery)

Within each unit, lesson plans break learning into a clear flow so you know what to do, what students are doing, and what to focus on. Lessons typically combine online learning with teacher-led instruction, discussion, and practical activities.

They are ideal for:

  • comprehensive delivery of Code Avengers online courses

  • extending and confirming student understanding

  • providing variety beyond screen-based learning

  • saving teacher planning time

  • team teaching, alignment, and consistency across a department

  • supporting beginning teachers, new-to-coding teachers, and relief/substitute teachers

3) Unplugged Activities (variety beyond screens)

Not every lesson has to start on a device. Unplugged activities teach core ideas through hands-on learning, discussion, and movement. You'll find them woven through various lessons, or use them independently by accessing the Unplugged Activities library under Resources in the navigation.

They are a great way to:

  • physically engage students and get them moving

  • reduce screen time while still teaching digital concepts

  • support classrooms with limited devices

  • reinforce learning through practical, real world examples

  • build confidence before students jump into coding

4) Teaching Slides and Resources (ready-to-use materials)

Teaching slides and additional resources are the unsung heroes of each lesson plan.

Slides are designed to help you introduce and explain concepts clearly, show examples, and guide whole-class learning. Depending on the lesson, slides may include:

  • vocabulary and key definitions

  • worked examples and explanations

  • step-by-step task instructions

  • discussion prompts and reflection questions

  • visual diagrams to support understanding

  • embedded links to videos or supporting resources

All lesson plans include the resources and digital materials required for you to introduce the topic, teach the required content and run the recommended activities. This means you are not starting from scratch. Where a lesson plan includes teaching slides, you can teach straight from the slides, or adapt them to match your class.

5) Curriculum Links and Learning Outcomes (built into units and lessons)

Unit and lesson plans include learning outcomes and curriculum links so you can confidently align teaching to required standards and report on progress.

This is especially helpful when you need to:

  • show how your programme connects to national or regional curriculum requirements

  • justify content coverage to school leadership

  • ensure progression across year levels

  • track learning outcomes across a unit, term, or year
